Art Therapy

Have you ever tried to tell someone about a dream you had but felt like words just didn't capture the experience? Have you ever created something and felt more alive and well? If you've experienced any of the above, you might appreciate art therapy.

Art therapy makes use of creative expression to help tell your story and facilitate a greater sense of physical and emotional well being. You don't need to be an artist to do art therapy because it isn't about creating a masterpiece; rather, it’s about expressing yourself and experimenting. In my office, I have a variety of art materials: paper, paints, pastels, pencils, markers, and modeling clay.

Some of my clients specifically choose to work with me so they can do art therapy but for others we collaboratively decide if we want to incorporate art making into our conversation.  Sometimes we might make art when we meet together or you might create something at home and bring it in with you. We then take time to reflect on the art and the process of creating it in regards to whatever is going on in your life at the time.
